Designer's Notes

When we first stepped into this space, our goal was clear, to create a calm sanctuary that reflects both modern restraint and soulful character. We wanted every corner to feel intentional, tactile, and quietly expressive, without shouting for attention.
We worked with a foundational palette of muted tones: soft whites, rich charcoals, and sage greens. Each surface chosen to absorb natural light in a way that soothes rather than reflects. Darker carpentry anchors the space, providing contrast and definition, while the off-white walls and warm wood floors open up the interiors with a comforting warmth.
Natural textures were crucial in creating depth. We used vein-cut marble with dramatic, organic movement on the kitchen backsplash and counter, offering an artistic focal point without overwhelming the eye. In contrast, the matte cabinetry provides a subtle elegance, allowing the veining to stand out as a sculptural element.
We carefully considered visual layering. From the fluted glass, which gently obscures without closing off, to the placement of indoor plants, we used soft transitions to guide the eye from one room to another. Light plays a central role, not just from the windows, but also from ambient lighting embedded in architectural recesses. This diffused glow adds a sense of calm, especially in the bedroom where restfulness is the ultimate luxury.
Every piece, from the dining pendants to the built-in bench seat, was selected to suit a lifestyle that values both visual stillness and functional beauty. We believe good design doesn’t just look good, it feels right. And in this home, that meant creating a space that invites you to slow down, breathe deeper, and truly feel at home.
“We’re honestly so happy with how everything turned out. From the start, the team really took time to understand our lifestyle. How we like to host, how we wind down after work, even our weekend routines. The design feels very ‘us’. The colour palette is calm and timeless, and I love how the textures all come together. Especially the marble backsplash and the matte black cabinets. It’s stylish but still very comfortable and warm. Even small touches like the hidden storage and integrated lighting make a big difference. Every time friends come over, they compliment how elegant and cosy the place feels. I always tell them it’s thanks to our amazing designers who really nailed the details. Thank you so much for making our dream home a reality!”— Rachel Lim
