Designer's Notes

A project for
Jia Wen & Marcus

This home was envisioned as a sanctuary. The client wanted a space that felt meditative, fluid, and unlike anything typical. We approached the design as if shaping an interior landscape — softening edges, dissolving boundaries, and allowing walls, floors, and ceilings to speak a single, continuous language. The entire palette was kept in tones of plaster beige and chalk white to heighten the sense of calm. Curves were introduced not just for form but to remove all visual tension. There are no hard corners. Everything flows, creating a cocoon-like interior that wraps gently around daily routines. Built-ins were carved into the walls, avoiding the look of added furniture. Lighting was integrated as part of the structure. We used recessed arcs and cut-out skylights to mimic natural rhythm and elevate spatial experience through shadows and softness. There is a quietness here that extends beyond silence. It is felt in the material, the air, and the absence of visual noise. This home is not only about how it looks. It is about how it feels.
“We wanted something truly different. Something that felt calm and grounded, but also artful and timeless. From the first concept, we knew this was it. The curves, the plaster textures, the absence of clutter — it all comes together in a way that feels like a retreat. It’s a space that slows us down and helps us feel more present. Every surface is beautiful to touch, and the light throughout the day is just magical. It really feels like a home that reflects the way we want to live.”
